Replies = Just suger & water is unbelievable. there are some companies
in Turkey from america Stamped Concrete application Expert offer
special chemical for this purpose. Retarder effect is under control against
the applicaiton quantity and time of waiting. I asked them your suger & water
solution, they told me you can not obtain in large scale projects homogenous
surface quality. whrn the suger & water dense it retards deeply or stays long
time also cause deeply. We have a commercial hall enterence project arround
2000 m2.Can I handle by using sugar & water only?
also acid which type of acid you recommend Hydrocloric acid or asetic
acid or someone else?Also Acrylic cure should be pure acrylic or strene or vinil
acrylic?

Answer:
Tech-101: Muraterbas, A Project of 2000m2 would be more suitable with a
admixture Set-Delay. Advantages of using any concrete retarder or delayed set
will slow down the set of concrete. There are many times when you may need it.
In hot temperatures concrete sets faster, or when a exposed aggregate is
needed with limited concrete finishers on hand so you may want to plan on
using Mini Delayed Set regularly in warm weather. It is also very handy to have
in case unexpected delays occur, for example a blow-out, an accident, or other
unexpected circumstance. One bag of Mini Delayed Set will delay the set of one
yard of concrete for about one hour.
Mini Delayed Set is a set retarding admixture, in a patented Fritz-Pak
packaging. Commonly used by ready mix producers and concrete pumpers, it
meets ASTM Standards C-494 Type D, AASHTO M-194 and CRD C-87.
On a large scale project the sugar and water retarder wouldn't be adequate.
Fritz-pak by Brickform would be a more suitable retarder to slow the hydration
of the Concrete Mix. A Cure seal for proper curing should be at least 30%
acrylic based. such as Gem-Seal by Brickform. In Most instances our own crews
usually have no need for a retarder on any project whether it's 1,000 sq ft patio
of a 1000,000 sq ft Industrial facility. Utilizing a large work force assures that the
concrete placement goes quickly - without overwhelming the finishers with too
much to Finish at one time. In most instances a simple exposed aggregate
finish wouldn't require a retarding agent if installed by an adequate crew of
experienced Journeyman Concrete Finishers....Good luck!
Answer:
Tech-101: Murat, Installing a concrete slab with an exposed aggregate surface
requires obtaining washed, colored stones in nominal sizes of 3/8" to 5/8" for
best results. The aggregates must be soaked in water for a minimum 2 hours to
prevent premature absorption. Once the Concrete slab has been screeded off
seed the aggregates (also known as rainbow rock) into the hydrating surface of
the concrete spreading them evenly throughout the surface and embedding
them with a magnesium bullfloat.
At this point fresno the concrete surface while edging the slab and then spray
sugar mixed with water (5lb of sugar per 2 gallons of water) to act as a natural
retarder by reducing water absorption ratios. When the surface is hard enough
to walk on then spray the cement surface with a setting of 1500 psi on a
pressure washer - washing the cement off the top of the rocks.
As with any exposed aggregate concrete finish you must apply an acrylic cure
seal within 24 hours to prevent the aggregate from delamination...Good luck!
